Frequently Asked Questions:

What is “documentary wedding photography”?

  • My style of wedding photography is that of telling a story…your story. I photograph the events of your wedding day as it unfolds, without interference or intrusion. Aside from your posed photos, the vast majority (more than 90%) of my photos are spontaneous, natural and candid.

Do I get to keep my digital negatives?

  • Yes, but for packages C and higher. When you see the phrase “printing rights to your digital negatives on DVD” that means you will get to keep all of your photos, ranging from your bridal portraits, wedding day photos, and everything else in between. You will receive your images on a DVD so you can make additional reprints or enlargements any time you want.

When will I receive my digital negatives?

  • You will receive your digital negatives upon delivery of your gallery album.

What should we wear to our engagement photo session?

  • First of all - BE YOU! That goes for the guys too! I tell all my clients to wear whatever makes them feel the most comfortable. whether that's jeans and T-shirt, a skirt and blouse, or their favorite dress. Also, wear whatever colors look best on you. Everyone knows his or her best colors. However, please try to avoid wearing white shirts. White washes out everyone's skin tones.

I have no idea where to take my bridal and engagement portraits. Do you have ideas?

  • Yes. I first find out your style. I want to know the look and feel my clients want for their photos. After that, I can recommend a variety of locations, but in the end, the choice will be yours.

If we hire KES Weddings to photograph, will you be the photographer?

  • Yes. When you hire me, you get me. If you want a second photographer for part of the event, please see the following question.

I might want a second photographer for the ceremony and the reception? Do you work with an assistant?

  • Yes. If you want a second photographer to focus on guests at the wedding, I often work with an assistant, but I am always the primary photographer. Their rate will vary on the length of time you need them.

Do you photograph weddings outside of Little Rock or in other states?

  • Yes. I most certainly travel outside of central Arkansas. There is no charge for travel within Arkansas. My fee for travel outside of Arkansas will be minimal, mostly to cover the cost of hotel and fuel. Most of my clients have booked me without meeting me first. They trusted the quality of my work they saw on my website.

Do I get any “posed” photos?

  • Of course! While my style of photography is documentary, you certainly get posed photos of both your wedding party and family photos. Parents and grandparents especially love the posed photos. I normally shoot all the posed photos immediately following your ceremony and I can get these photographed in less than 30 minutes.

What are Highlight Cards and Photo Thank You cards?

  • Highlight Cards and Photo Thank You cards are my gift to all my clients. The Highlight Cards are 50 sturdy, 4x6 postcards that you can display at your reception. On the front, the cards feature your favorite photo from your engagement or bridal session. On the flip side, is the information to tell your weddings guests where to find your highlighted wedding gallery on my website once it is posted. Photo Thank You cards features your favorite wedding day photo on a thank you card.

How soon after you photograph my wedding will I get to view my photos?

  • I have your highlighted photos posted on my website within 2-3 weeks. The photos for your on-line, digital viewing gallery are generally ready in less than 30 days. All photos will be previewed for either 90-days, 120-days or one year, depending on your package selection.

Oops! My on-line gallery expired before I had a chance to choose my photos, can I have more time?

  • Yes of course. Once your gallery is expired, I can renew it for 30-days for $25.

After I order my photos for my wedding album, how long will it take before I receive it?

  • Once you approve your final book design, you will receive your book in less than 30 days.

I don't see a package that suits exactly what I need. Do you work to create custom packages?

  • Absolutely! Call me and we will work to tailor a package specifically for you.

What happens if you get sick, or have a family emergency and cannot photograph my wedding?

  • If I were to have an emergency, I would do everything in my power to find you a back-up photographer whom I trust fully. If all else fails, you will receive a 100% refund. Thankfully in the last nine years, that has never happened.

What is your background?

  • I am currently a working photojournalist with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, for more than 12 years, which is the largest newspaper in Arkansas. I am a proud member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association: www.wpja.com, where I am an International, Award-Winning photographer. I am also a member of the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers: www.ispwp.com. I am current member of the National Press Photographer's Association: www.nppa.org since 1994 and I served on their Board of Directors from 2004-2009. I have been documenting weddings since 2001.

Do you photograph more than one wedding a day?

  • NEVER! Once you book a date, it belongs solely to you. I never double-book weddings.
